Ron Gaunt

Yarraville Cricket Club were fortunate enough to have one of the best ever players in Sub District join us for a very brief period in the mid 60s. Ron Gaunt then joined Yarraville Cricket Club for two seasons only (1965/66) and (1966/67). His impact was astonishing and in his first season with Yarraville he took 69 wickets at 11.45 apiece including 10/36 against Kew.

Ron had a remarkable cricket career which started in Western Australia and ended in Victoria. He represented the country in test cricket which is a wonderful achievement. Ron’s career is beautifully presented on the Footscray Edgewater Cricket Club website at the following link :

Our condolences are with the Gaunt family on Ron’s passing in April this year.

SUPER FANTASY DREAM SQUAD COMPETITON 2011-2012 comes to a conclusion !

First of all, thanks heaps for everyone who entered and made it such a competitive slug out, right to the end !

After 13 Rounds, plenty of trades, Bonus-Points-a-plenty and hours upon hours of entering individual scores and fiddling with Microsoft Excel formulas to complete the leaderboard spreadsheet...we finally have winners for this year !!!

After a late trade to get Nick "Churchy" Parish into his team (right before he took 9 wickets providing an extra 500 Bonus Points ftw), Daniel "Bobby" Saville took first place, with that man, "Churchy" Parish coming in a close second.

Although I reckon Nick would rather keep the nine wicket inning than swap them for a win in the Dream Squad League any day...

CARN THE EAGLES !!!
